Majorica has been producing artificial organic pearls in Mallorca since 1890. Their largest store and live show is located in Porto Cristo, just 100 meters from the famous Drach Caves.

The multi-sensory show presents the entire process, from the production of the opal glass (the heart of the pearls) to the stringing of the most elegant necklaces.

Majorica pearls are artificial imitation pearls that mimic the appearance of real pearls. Unlike other imitation pearls, sand cores hardened under high pressure are used instead of the usual glass beads. Placed on a special holder, they receive a 30-layer coating consisting of mother-of-pearl and pearl-like materials such as fish scales. Any shade can be achieved by adding colored minerals. The final product is very difficult to distinguish from real pearls.
